A message from the founder…

Hi 👋🏽 My name is Hiram Vazquez, CEO and Founder of LALA, and today we’re thrilled to announce our launch and $3M Seed funding by Seven Seven Six, to create a first-of-its-kind experience for movie and TV show fans.

LALA is the first digital collectible marketplace that allows fans to own a piece of revenue streams from their favorite movies and TV shows, in addition to granting unique access to these stories and characters. I incubated LALA at Seven Seven Six, Alexis Ohanian’s venture fund, while I was a member of their inaugural Operator in Residence program. My vision is to elevate culture by bringing a new level of ownership and access to the movie and TV stories we know and love, all unlocked by blockchain technology.

I recently spoke with Alexis and he shared:

“To say I’m excited for LALA to launch is an understatement. Now is the time to build a new fan experience, and no one is doing it quite like Hiram. First of all, it feels good to own a piece of your favorite movie or TV show, regardless of the dollar amount, and secondly, LALA’s providing a real utility here, granting new access to our favorite stories. In this broader bear market, it’s no longer a gambler’s or get-rich-quick mindset, and that’s a good thing for serious companies building for the long term. By creating opportunities for deeper connections and immersive experiences for the fan community, LALA is far more valuable, more effective, and more compelling than anything out there today.”

My personal motivation for bringing this idea of new points of ownership and access to fans has a lot to do with my passion for popular culture and collectibles, as well as my past experiences from childhood.

Growing up, I was obsessed with movies, TV shows, and video games. This helped me learn English, since we used to get all the cable channels from the US. In addition to being geographically far away from Hollywood, most of the promotions, fan contests, or sweepstakes that I would learn about from TV commercials or the back of cereal boxes were exciting for kids in the states, but not eligible for residents of Puerto Rico. Even most of the cool merch from these movies or shows wasn’t available for purchase on the island.

This experience made a strong impression on me and has fueled my excitement for democratizing access and experiences for fans with LALA, at a time when blockchain technology allows us to do so. Additionally, I see that I’m not the only one with this desire to connect more with movies and shows. The /movies subreddit is the 6th largest community on the Reddit platform with 31M+ members! In an era of unlimited and instantaneous content, it seems contradictory that we have to wait at least a year before the new season of our favorite show comes out (or years when it comes to movies) to continue exploring those stories and characters we love. Why isn’t there a way to, in the meantime, keep connecting at a deeper level with this IP through ownership and exclusive access? This is exactly what we are doing with LALA. We are looking to disrupt an industry that has long anticipated a need for innovation as it pertains to the fan experience.

Now I’m sure most of you are wondering how revenue stream ownership works? Every time a movie or show is released, it generates money from theater ticket sales, licensing fees from streaming services such as Netflix, merch sales, and even from copyright infringement. For the first time, LALA is partnering with IP owners to carve out a percentage of different types of these revenue streams to give back to the fan community. This means that LALA collectors will have the ability to collect a piece of the profits from their favorite movies or shows with each LALA digital collectible purchased.

These drops are not just about the fractional ownership component, but also the incredible art, limited edition authentic merch, behind-the-scenes content, and much more. We want to make sure that fans get the most out of this experience, so we are offering a range of meaningful perks and surprises for those who purchase.

Before you buy a LALA collectible, you will see a list of perks that you’ll receive with it, like those mentioned above. Upon purchasing, you’ll have access to your own user dashboard that will provide a breakdown of your collectibles, payouts earned, rewards unlocked, and more. We have a unique loyalty program that gives collectors access to a variety of benefits, including: discounts on future collections and access to official merch drops, along with exclusive access to content, events, and our communities. These rewards, and other surprise ones, will be unlocked over time as you engage with the collection you bought into, extending the love for this IP into a first-of-its-kind fan experience.
