5 Simple Strategies to Practice Your Grammar in a New Language

Most new language learners hate studying grammar. It reminds them of the horrible language classes they had with their boring teacher, Mr. Garcia.

There are also many outspoken polyglots who thrive without actively studying grammar in depth. I’m not one of those. I enjoy grammar because I’ve made its study fun for me.

You can still become fluent without diving into grammar, but that also means accepting progressing slower. Grammar is the backbone of language learning. Learn it and you’ll handle the language with more ease and variation.

These are 5 methods I’ve used on and off for the past decade. None will allow you to master the language’s grammar in a day, but combine them all and you’ll have a good arsenal to tackle grammar.

Make Sentences Personal

When you learn new grammar patterns, you’ll see examples of how they should appear in real sentences. It helps with understanding the basics, but you might not care much for what the sentence…
