Should you learn the International Phonetic Alphabet?

Today, I was planning on discussing the interest of ignoring the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) and learning languages without it. It is, after all, not necessary in order to learn languages.

But then, my years of research on it backfired and reminded me of my laziness when it comes to it.
