A Longing for Life

A sonnet

The rain drips down outside the window’s pane.
Diffuse dim light shines down onto the sill.
A potted plant stands watch, it won’t complain.
And even if it could, it wouldn’t still.

With stunted growth, small leaves that still arose
On ends of shriveled branches still alive.
So limp and weak one has to look so close…
