A Tale of Two Salaries
“Remember what I said,” Heath said sombrely as he wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer.
I nodded as I lay my head on his shoulder and wondered how I always had such stupendously bad luck with falling for men across the oceans.
He gave a deep groan, nuzzled into my neck and whispered again, “I’m going to do everything in my power for us to be together.”
This sort of romance gave me outright shivers. Shivers from the tips of my toes to the fluttering butterflies deep within my gut.
What was it about this reassurance from him that sounded so promising? I mean, men had promised me such happiness before, why was this any different?
Perhaps, because we both had roots planted around the same time, in the same area and now it’s a feeling of belonging; home.
Saying goodbye wasn’t too difficult as my adrenalin was focused on getting packed and organised to leave. Mom mode was in full flight.
He beeped the hooter a few times and waved his arm out of the window, as he drove away and I felt a sense of sensational excitement for what this story may bring.
