All I Want is to Be Your Least Favorite Book

A poem

--

You might say I’m rubbish,
Yet at least I’ve been read by you.
You might abandon me forever,
Yet at least I’ve been noticed by you.

It’s okay if my words haven’t satisfied you enough,
Or is it my cover?
Or my color?
Or…my paper?

You put me on your bookshelf,
It might be…endless?
Yet at least I could watch you thrive,
Thrive in life.

All I want is to be your least favorite book,
With my dusty cover,
Rusty paper,
To give you a moment to fancy your favorite book.
