Look:
there he is
sweaty and shirtless
standing in front of
the window showing off his
abs and glutes — As if!

See that there,
that half heart
right there
on his pecks.

Look:
I got the other half.
Ain’t that stupid as
stupid can be.

What’s a half a heart?
It’s like half a Tacoma
get you know where.
Half a breast milk
leaving you hungry
Half a Taylor Swift lyric
humming it over and over
‘Love thorns all over this rose
I’ll pay the price, you won’t.’

I don’t know why in
hell’s name we got
those stupid tattoos
after prom anyway.
As if it were real love?
As if a 19-year-old
could commit
to a 16-year-old.
