Captain Magic
A short story on the sea
Upon the sea, marshmallow foam lay here and there. Those working on the boat hoped to catch fish before the sea became too stormy. But the waves started pounding, leaving nothing and no one dry, and whipping winds pushed the boat with topsy-turvy waves that sent it sideways and backwards. The men pulled in their fishing nets and would have to try catching fish at another time when the sea became calm again.
While the men worked on the nets, the captain of the ship dipped a magical wand into the waters, unseen before by his men, and the brisk sea settled down. It was a round, black stick, not more than twelve inches long. The moon shone bright in the sky, guiding them toward the shore.
One shipmate questioned, “Where did the wand come from, and why do you have it, Captain?”
He replied, “I found it long ago on an island and thought it ordinary, but whenever I put it in the water, many fish would come, or sometimes, I would tap someone on the head if they were in trouble, and trouble went away.”
The men further asked, “Why did you never tell us about the wand or use it before around us?”
The captain smiled.
“I didn’t want anyone to steal it, and though I trust you all, I was afraid the magic…
