Cheers to Summer

“She just can’t be chained
to a life where nothing’s gained
and nothing’s lost
at such a cost.”
— Ruby Tuesday, The Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger & Keith Richards
Mortgage payment way past due,
the ink is dry, the paper torn,
nothing fashionable to be worn
the closet empty, wallet stripped.
The taxi driver barely tipped.
Dyslexic body, unbuttoned mind.
Love clearly not meant to be defined.
Split a keg, chug a beer,
the humid summer already here.
