City Parks

What is it I love
about these
city parks?
A re-centering zone
to break up
my day.
A thinking place
so my goals don’t
run away.
Sifting the junk
to find
the gold.
What is today
really meant
to hold?
A spirit of heaviness
fell upon me
at the hostel.
I needed to leave
that place
to recalibrate.
Instantly
— that spirit
left me when
I arrived at the park.
