The Lark

Coastal Waters

A poem

A flash of electrostatic blue-white
Slashes across the oppressive black satin sky
A deep thrum and boom follows shortly thereafter
Heralding the onset of another dangerous night

Animals scatter to take shelter
As I hunch within my hood
Hands deep in damp pockets
With hopes, it will be over soon
