I want to hold you near so I can hear
The rhythm of your heartbeat
It’s been so long since the song
The cadence and the heat.

Here at home all alone
There’s something in the air
I can’t see or hold the key to your heart
Even though I care.

Love lives here for the lonely
My mind traces your smile
And lifts your chin to kiss your lips
It’s been longer than a while.

Like a thought that got caught
And turned inside out
I feel your soft embrace
A dewdrop to stop the drought.

The minutes that went missing
The hours, days, and years
Your presence is like a moonbeam
And heavens-scented tears.

My mind is wrapped in moments
Of our room and sweet perfume
Lingering at night and in spite
Of the minutes we consume.

The evening song is melting
Like ice upon the snow
Then in the night, there is light
Of your headlights that I know.

Your footsteps ring like rain
Falling on the path to my door
Then the warmth like summer sunshine
Fills us to the core.
