Pursued by his own fantasies
the man seeks to escape
he has his cheek furrowed
by the thorns and years of life
on one hand
he has the reins
and in the other a whip
he thinks he owns
the secret of his salvation
which he bridles with care
in reins
with the prayer and without a whip
