Draco’s Eyes

Dipping
Between the wandering bears,
Hidden by light in its celestial lair,
The Northern Dragon quietly stirs.

Whipping
Around its slithering tail to throw off sleep,
The waxing moon will flee like sheep
Below the horizon to safely hide.

Spreading
O’er the day with astronomical wings,
Darkness will fall and the serpent will rise
To spew its fury from fiery eyes.

Watch for the short-lived Draconid meteor shower at nightfall and early evening on October 8, 2021. The Draconids will radiate from Draco’s eyes, Eltanin and Rastaban.
