Fathers of Energy and Light
A poem
A good father brings light
and balance
a unified love and commitment
to spouse and family
Always a companion for TV watching
protective when you are sick and concerned
hoping for a fast recovery for his
children
A helper in the yard and house
pulling out a loose tooth and
chasing bugs away
a strong reminder of his love
and strength
Kind words and hugs
settle into the room
until you’re in trouble
Fathers don’t always discipline
in the best way, but they
wear regrets on their faces too
when fatherhood tires them
Fathers can be shy, weak, and fragile
like a damsel in distress
needing hugs and kisses too
but a father’s presence shines a
light during thick and thin
just because of you, your love,
and presence too.
