The Lark

Flirting with happiness

Poetry

Photo by Tadeusz Lakota on Unsplash

Sitting here lonely and wondering
Where have all the years gone
And what will life show me as
The veil of time is lifted from
My eyes. A blanket that has held
Its secret since life has begun
For me. A mantle that can be so
Cruel at times and keep me|
In the darkness, never allowing
me to see all that I’m meant
to be — and never showing
completely. Only a silhouette
Is brought before me — a rough
Image of a life…
