On a bridge somewhere in Cincinnati,
I wrote your name on a column in ink as if
I was still a giddy schoolgirl…
I mouthed ‘I love you’ into the camera, my eyes boring into my reflection
As though the eyes staring back at me were yours…
I willed you to feel the intensity of my desire for you roaring through me
As if it were the mighty Ohio River pummeling the rocks below…
Cheeks flushed, I pressed, “Send,”
and walked back towards my family, waiting on the other side with uncertain half smiles…
