Don’t take the adages to heart
My dear
The hardest part is forgiving yourself
That whatever time we’ve spent apart
Has been hardest on you

Don’t take time as law
That your forgetting means the world has forgotten
That I forget

Don’t take your surrender as peace
That the battle is over
That your words that were knives
Left no scars

Don’t take forgiveness as a given
For you’ve taken enough
So fight for this right
Or not at all.
