Good Night

As day nears its end

As day nears its end,
I regret that I must sleep.
I have so much more to say,
to think, to sow, to reap.

But there always comes this hour,
when I must say good night.
My weary body craves to rest,
so I must cease a while.

I must not be sorrowful,
for my day was full.
I witnessed wishful hopes.
I heard tell a troubled heart.

And so I pause to give thanks,
for this another day.
I won’t know what tomorrow brings,
until I close my eyes and pray.
