My breath slides on your eyelids
as they turn into crescent moons
when you smile.
A flutter lifts me off the ground
giving me a glimpse of heaven
when your eyes look into mine

Hard to breath
Impossible to exist
as your fingers run through my hair
I try to follow you into the unknown
but your feet relinquish no prints
in the sands of time
leaving me alone in the wilderness

Regret I do not
For I got lost in the pursuit of life
And what can a mortal hope to win
in your presence when
Even God would shed a tear
the day you’ll die
For his greatest creation
is returning home
