My wife and I shared the same shopping cart at Home Depot. Emily looked at the bathroom rugs and the tissue boxes while I searched for a new toilet seat.

“There’s something I need to tell you,” Emily said.

“You don’t have to — I know. I have to lose weight. This is the third toilet seat my fat ass has broken.”
