In the Springtime When it Rains at Night

A poem of grief

In the springtime
When it rains at night
The water brings
With it
A spirit
Of poisoned
Hope
And boundless
Loss
So heavy
And thick
That night
Itself
Seems
To weep
And my heart
Languishes
Through many
Bleeding
Memories
Of lovers
Who freely chose
To forget
Their love
For
Me
And I feel
A sadness
Beyond
My ability
To bear
As
Grief
Conquers
The whole world
And my quiet
Lonely
Soul
Mourns
Countless
Private
Sorrows
In the springtime
In the early dark hours
When
It rains
At night
