The road to recovery

Inch by inch it’s not a cinch
To gradually get better
Easy it goes no one knows
The changes in the weather.

Up and down round and round
Step by step is steady progress
One by one maybe’s less fun
But has far fewer regrets.

Incremental changes
The small moves make more sense
A reward as I exit the ward
New worlds of recompense.

Each day I feel better
Healing takes some time
Rhythm in tepid tempo
To the tapestry of rhyme.

Take one step and follow up
Each step with another
Then try walking to the time
Of one step matching the other.

Up and down the avenue
Steer clear of swerves and slides
Avoid the hall of heartaches
And other dangerous rides.

Everyone knows slowly she goes
Is the best way to go
When I’m quite recovered
To places that we know.

In a place where natures grace
Unfolds before our eyes
Once photographed in Kodachrome
A magical surprise.
