Uncle Junior, I thought I knew you
a reserved man,
who kept his emotions
interlocked to not
appear vulnerable,
the most Herculean displayed vulnerability
made them feel powerful

Uncle Junior, in my youth
I can’t forget the times
you cared for me
I remember the showers
where I despised putting on lubricated lotion,
yet you lathered your hands as if no big deal

Uncle Junior, I wished to know you further
I could’ve helped with your reckless endeavours
your shy behavior kept you from reaching out
I knew you wanted to scream out
help me
help me
yet you’re not here, uncle junior
No time to let it out

At the end of September, my uncle passed away from COVID-19. He treated the virus recklessly, but he’s up in the heavens, and there’s no reason for debates.

COVID-19 and any human contagion are dangerous; I’ve known this since day one. Take care and stay safe.

Thank you to

and the writers of The Lark!
