life brings comforts and discomforts
sending us highs and lows
caring for ourselves and others
makes life a better flow

there’s much to learn and how
often do we listen
to the quiet vibrations
from our insides that glisten

a message that comes
softly and on tiptoes
we often may not hear it
and away it goes

why must we tamper with
the things that are already settled
as if we need the upheaval
but shouldn’t meddle

tuning into the music of good sense
sheds a light that offers recompense

caring hearts and careful living
old and new people becoming friends
kindness is worth giving
and friendship makes amends

if you carry a torch that burns
others instead of loves
nothing will help contain
or rid the angst from every
shove or from those you love
