Mutual Attraction

I was the one

Was it you fit the shoe
Why did you fly away
Mutual attraction
Disappeared into the blue.

Could love work in latitudes
Too cold to coexist
Or is it down to symmetry
In the way, we missed.

Now that winters spread her wings
And sunshine smiles again
My garden is a Mecca
The song is a new refrain.

I recognize that in your eyes
The focus is faltering
Does this mean the inevitable
Way your mind is altering.

Dabbling in deductions
Demise and dread and fear
Knowing you are far away
Yet you feel, near.

Times have changed I’ve rearranged
The furniture and fridge
I’m on the moon and soon will pass
Behind another ridge.

How far is gone forever
Is there any coming back
I saw you in an old photograph
Now I have the knack.

I saw my shadow follow me
As I walked past the sun
And the mutual attraction was realized
And I was the one.

Of instant recognition
Who turned on the lights
I eat my meals much slower now
And deal in megabytes.
