Feeling weighted down
My spirit yearns to be set free
To lay down my(her) worries
The sorrows and the fears
“Enough already” she cries
So loud is her voice
I’m convinced others must be able to hear

My spirit has always had a will of her own
I feel the bonds tying her to me burst asunder
But wait
She says that I’m welcome to join her
That I need her
“Where will we go?” I ask
Afraid of what the response might be
My concern justified by her answer
“It’s the leaving
The freedom that’s important
We can create our own path as we go
You might even find yourself along the way”
Whatever that may mean

No structure
I gasp at the implications
Not even a definite destination or itinerary
Isn’t there a spiritual GPS
My spirit laughs
Without any derision in its tone
Rather it conveys a hint of joy
A dash of hope
Sprinkled with love
What a rich sound
