Night Sky

Mindful poetry

Gazing into dark night sky
Wanting to see planets there,
Only seen is a crescent moon
Twinkling stars across the sky
Void of other planets.

Falling into a dreamful mood
Mind lost to the immediate present,
Thinking of interesting places to go
And places where I have been before
Dreams of future and treasured past.

Coming back to where I am now
Mind fixed upon a black night sky
And all of nature’s marvels there,
Disappointed to not view planets
Grateful for what is presently seen.

Night sky, repository of vast discoveries
Constellations like lighted milky way
Moon in its nightly varied formations
Occasional views of far distant planets.
