Nighttime Without Darkness

A poem

the night reflects our souls
when stars come out to bring
their light and wisdom
like a story being told we
look up with attentive faces
full of admiration and anticipation

like waiting for a day to get better
a life lifted upwards

the night also brings us the moon
a place to forget our sorrows
and lift our faces to a new day
forthcoming
it surrounds us like a coat
keeping us warm and cherished
feeling protected

the night like a sister, a brother
family where there is none
letting us know we are not alone

helping one not to give up
it’s forthright and the truth
never hides
never tempting us to be someone
else or live someone else’s life
making our lives a permanent
space in the book of the universe
in its light, its wisdom, and forever
love.
