The Lark

Store Hassle

A poem

I went to the store to buy some gum
and when I arrived there was none
instead, I asked the clerk for a
can of peas
and she said, “Listen mister you
better say please.”

I swallowed my pride and said,
“could you please?”
and she said, “not on your life,
we only have cheese.”
