Funkadelic Poems
A Non-Fictional Poem About the Neurotransmitters Serotonin and Dopamine
Good information and a rhyme or two, too
Dopamine and serotonin, those funky neurotransmitters
They are related, cousins maybe, but not the same
So, in poem form, please allow me to explain
“If you are explaining, you are losing.” — J.C. Watts
Dopamine is a motivator, do it now and not later
Pleasure and pain, agitation and gain
It’s the rush that follows sex, drugs, and rock n’ role, man
And makes us want more… play it again, Sam
“People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing — that’s why we recommend it daily.” — Zig Ziglar
Once the dump or rush ends
It urges us to repeat the feat, and doesn’t stop until complete
The behavior ends the pain game, until it doesn’t and starts again
More pain than gain, over time you’ll find
That’s what we call, the addiction affliction
And the rise (high) before the fall
