Strength Reclaimed

Broken promises
Empty vows disintegrate
Disappointment swells

Accusations fly
Shot by crossbows rife with hate
Resentment unfurls

Fueled by bouts of rage
Tears come crashing to the dirt
Sobering my brain

Words we can’t take back
Resignation to a truce
Silent, smug impasse

Suffering subsides
Celebrating strength reclaimed
Wounds begin to heal

Old, lingering scars
Bleak reminders of the pain
That will fade with time

Sky-scraping self-worth
Amelioration of the life
I have left behind

Follow me on Medium for other mindless musings.
