Fire we can’t see blocks the sun out again
wind tosses invisible smoke around the gold lit air
between raggedy tree trunks and forest canopies
still making a stand in the middle of the city

The tear grey sky looks as angry as we feel
Unacknowledged, complicated rage and grief choke us slowly
