Taking a Walk

A poem

a walk from here to there
made life easier to bear
like soft, green grass under your feet
nothing would make you feel defeat

short walks and long walks
never a grimace or squawk
about the time of day and what
had to be done
walking was what made life fun

a treasure to have feet and legs
that readily lifted you from bottom to head
a way to meet others and stop at the store
a gift to be active and never bored

trials came and then they went
problems got solved like heaven sent
not always a good time, you had to mull through
for without love and patience, you became a shrew

you may tire of life and what it brings
except for the good times that made you sing
there would always be enough work to do
forgetting your sorrows, walking and wearing
out your shoes
