Small state, few people
Unused equipment
Death is honored
Travel is not

There are boats and wagons
Unused.

There are soldiers and arms
Unseen.

Knots speak their histories
Not written words.

Savoring food, admiring clothes
Happy at home, familiar beliefs

Hearing neighbors’ roosters and dogs
Aging, dying, remaining
Friendly strangers.
