Towards making it a truly inclusive occasion
Let Thanksgiving Day no longer be associated with Pilgrims
That tale did not end well for Native Americans
This should be a celebration that all in our country can view as their own

Enjoy being with family and friends
Smile at everyone you encounter on this day
Wishing them a Happy Thanksgiving
Especially if you don’t know them
Whether you see them while walking your dog
Attending a local high school football game
At a religious service
While doing some last-minute food shopping

Set your spirit free this day
Discard the baggage that weighs you down
Cast aside your prejudices and fears
Old grievances and painful memories
Forgive all who have hurt you
Starting with yourself
Then take the next important step
And love yourself as never before
Allow it to penetrate your innermost core
