To encourage reading, I wrote this poem using the
book titles found recently in this Little Free Library
located in Collinsville, CT.

A gift, an heirloom,
something old, something new
Something Borrowed,
something Crazy, something blue.

A Feast of Pleasure for Us
a cornucopia, well-tended from
the Girls in the Garden.

A pleasure like the Last Kiss of an Affair
born from the Sweet Talk of Lovers
that melds into Identical Harts.

I will consume these books
with a thankfulness
for this pilgrim’s harvest
carefully tilled and planted
amongst the harsh Empire Wilderness.

From the Broad Strokes of existence
these texts have been distilled
and refined like the wisdom found
in a Prisoner’s Diary.

Like a Goldfinch caged,
Angry, Jay-ded Housewives yearning to be free
I open this little library,
and the Mocking doors only Come Undone
with Sarah’s Key.

These tomes are anxious to be exchanged
like dance partners in a Paris soiree
flashing their bold covers
with the Light and Heat of a
Thousand Splendid Suns.

But I must not tarry
I must choose which tome to devour
for it is approaching the Witching hour
my Time is short
the Bell tolls for me.

But maybe I’ll stop searching
for an Atlas of the Afterworlds
I will Eat, Pray, and Love
Let the words Catch Me.

The Books:
