The Music of the Universe

Hope is to be found there

Listen to the music of the universe
Join me in dancing to its rhythm
Like the divine beings that we are
Celebrate and rejoice
If your neighbor has difficulty hearing the sounds
Hum it to them
Hold their hands and lead them in dance
For it is a gift intended for everyone

Look up
Lift not only your face
But your whole self
Gazing at the ground often leads to the very falls
You hope to avoid
And you miss so much
For narrowing your worldview to only your next step
You see merely your own shadow
Blind to the sun at your back
The beauty that surrounds you

These are dark troubled times
Large-scale murder and mayhem justified as honor killings
Righteous revenge
An eye for an eye no longer suffices
Collateral damage of the deaths of innocents twenty times over
By what scale of measurement does that balance
