Farmington River by Brian Baker

They say nothing gold can stay,
that the brightest flower will fade,
that the oak and maple trees
will slowly surrender their leaves.

Yes, I suppose that may be true
with life’s everchanging hue,
but each season can console;
each season has its gold.
