“My skin!” Ash exclaimed. “It looks so dirty.”

“It’s the normal skin color for humans,” the doctor attending her stated. Earthlings call it white skin. We’re pleased with how well it turned out. We made the primary pigmentation slightly darker for Major Davos Storm. And I want to stress the word slightly. Once the procedures are completed and you have had time to adapt to your metabolism, we will guide you through the process of shifting between your alternate appearance options.”

“Why wouldn’t Davos and I not have the same skin color?

“Humans have a range of skin tones. Major Storm is well aware of that fact due to his experiences on Earth. Now, look into the mirror, Major Tild. Meet the new you!”

“My ears! They’re horrid.”

As she took in more of her facial appearance, she felt at a loss for words. This person in the mirror was a complete stranger. That stranger had the same size of a face with a nose that was a bit larger. The eyes were still spaced the same. It was with a tiny bit of relief that she could still see a small part of herself in those eyes that stared back. They had remained a vibrant blue.
