Democracy is on the decline
Said an article in New York Times
If Russia invades Ukraine
It’s a new era of war and shame
War will come with shame
Knocking on the doors
It will be inhumane
Everyone leaving their homes

My heart is with you, Ukraine
Do you know what’s to come?
Do you know the amount of pain
When looking for the crumbs?

It seems like our destinies
Have been linked together
I, a girl from the Middle East
And you a country facing the beast

Democracy is on the decline
Oh God, what a lie
Have you walked in Damascus streets
Have you seen people in Afghanistan?
Was democracy ever there? Or was it just
A fake stand?

We are all in a cycle of predation
It is the destiny of every nation
You are either a prey or a beast
Either way, you are part of the feast
Cannot there be a mutation
eliminating this relation?
Or do we always have to be
eating or being eaten?
Is that how God intended
it to be in the land of Eden?

Aren’t we all meant to be
Part of one symphony?
Isn’t that your blood
running in me?
The rib in your cage isn’t
From me?

Don’t you see, brother?
We are all part of one another
We are supposed to be together
And not conquer and kill each other

So how could you take their homes
How could you leave them in the cold
That’s their land, their bread
Their children, that meant to be fed

You see Ukraine
They don’t know
The amount of pain
We noncore countries own

You see Ukraine
We are always part of a game
They are the players, and we
Are the darts of shame

My heart is with you, Ukraine
I know how tough war can be
May God end this game
May predation no longer be
Our destiny

May democracy not decline
And not remain a pickup line
But a mutual relation and
A new state of every nation
