I am always mesmerized by the rainfall

“Give thanks for the rain in your life which waters the flowers of your soul.” — John Lockwood Huie

As I sit in the office reception area waiting for my daughter to finish up her appointment, I watch the rain fall hard and fast through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows.

The raindrops hit the pavement with rapid intensity, and I become engrossed in the sound.

The sound of the pounding rain pattering on the pavement lulls me into a sense of calm.

Thunder rumbles and a bolt of lightning streaks across the sky.

Observing the rainfall as it falls on the concrete into small puddles feels oddly soothing.

I sit transfixed, staring at it, unwilling to move, finding great solace in it.

The heavy rain gradually subsides and drizzles down the windowpane in patterns.

When my daughter reenters the room after her appointment, I reluctantly rise from the soft, comfy couch to greet her.

The ground is wet…
