Mexican Poker

I scanned over the sea of pedestrians crossing the border. I searched for familiarity but found none. More American tourists visit Mexico than any other country. Juarez just isn’t on their list of destinations.

Passport in hand, I readied for a checkpoint that never came. Military stood watch, automatic rifles slung over chests, fingers caressed triggers. They too scanned over the sea of pedestrians, never saying a word.

At the end of every journey, there’s a story. A publication to toast travel experiences, uncover new ways of life, and to wander deeper along the roads less traveled.
