Fitbit released two stunning smartwatches last year, the Fitbit Versa 3 and the Fitbit Sense. The Versa 3 builds upon last years flagship, the Fitbit Versa 2. The Fitbit Sense, is the new flagship watch for Fitbit, as it comes with never seen before features and a higher price tag as well. The Sense packs health features we haven’t seen from older Fitbits, Apple Watches, or Galaxy Watches! If you were looking to preorder or order one of these smartwatches, it could be confusing on which one you should buy. Luckily, this article will go over all of the big and small differences, and tell you which one you should buy at the end!

Fitbit Sense Advantages

The Fitbit Sense excels over the Versa 3 in one category, the health features. The Fitbit Sense packs an EDA sensor, which can track and monitor your stress levels, and you can see how your stress levels have changed throughout your day and later on as well. It gives you a stress score and also insights and patterns regarding your stress levels. Skin temperature is something that goes up with a fever, which a symptom of COVID-19. Thankfully, the Sense packs a skin temperature sensor inside of it, which is especially useful in the COVID pandemic that we’re in right now.

The Fitbit Sense also has an ECG, which can measure and see if you have atrial fibrillation, which is an irregular heart rhythm, which needs to be checked up and treated immediately. It has saved lives in the past with the Apple Watches, and it is good to give you a warning to checkup with your doctor, better safe than sorry. The Sense also has a stainless steel frame compared to the Fitbit Versa 3, and I like this over the aluminum found on the latter since it feels better and more dense on the wrist.

However, keep in mind that to access all of the cutting edge features of the Fitbit Sense, you must pay $10/month after the 6-month free trial ends to gain access to those features, which is a huge expense on top of already buying the smartwatch.

Common New Features

The first thing that both of these smartwatches do excellently is the battery life. Both feature 6-day battery lives, and Fitbit is the best at smartwatch battery life. Both also feature a built-in GPS, which can be useful for runs, bike rides, etc. If you would like an always-on-display in your watch, both of these offer it! You can also pick between Google Assistant and Alexa for your smart assistant, so you have the option between both. I personally feel like Google Assistant is better for conversations, and Alexa is better for integration with smart devices. Sleep tracking with the same capabilities can be found with both, which include a sleep score, sleep insights, sleep patterns over time, and more.

Fitbit Versa 3 Advantages

The Fitbit Versa 3’s main advantages come in the pricing department, as it is $70 cheaper than the Fitbit Sense to purchase. The Sense almost has everything that the Versa 3 has, plus more to offer, but the price drop is the main advantage of the Fitbit Versa 3. However, the aluminum body of the Versa 3 does feel lighter on your wrist, and the blue and gold option on the Versa 3 is also my favorite on either of these smartwatches, so that could be a reason why you might opt for the Versa 3.

Pricing & Colors

The Fitbit Versa 3 starts at $229, and the Fitbit Sense starts at $299. These smartwatches might not be as expensive as the $399 Apple Watch Series 7, but it is still a hefty sum for anybody, so picking the right one is extremely important. The Versa 3 comes in a Blue and Gold, Black and Black, or Pink and Gold option. The Sense comes in a Black and Black or Gold and Gold combination.

Verdict

Since these smartwatches are from the same company, you are getting a very similar product, but there a lot of key differences which you should look out for when purchasing either of these watches. The first thing is that the Fitbit Sense is by far the better smartwatch if you want health features, but you always should remember that it costs an extra $10/month to get these health features. However, the Versa 3 is $70 cheaper, and if you know that you will not use those health features, it might not be worth spending the extra $70, because the Versa 3 is good enough already. If you prefer a stainless steel, heavier watch, the Fitbit Sense could be for you as well.

If you want health features, go for the Sense. If you want to save some money, go for the Versa 3!
