I t was dinner when I asked my mom if I could go out and jam with my friends. She responded “No!” in her loudest voice. It shocked everyone, my grandmother was the most surprised.
“Why won’t you let an 18-year-old lad go out and have fun? His life isn’t just about books and staying in his dark room. He won’t discover more about life with just several books on his shelves,” my Grandmother said to my mom.
“I wish you told me the same words when I asked for your permission to go out, too, when I was young, Mom.”
