In the spirit of giving back, the Rocketbook Squad spent the morning of June 25th volunteering with Boston’s local Esplanade Volunteer Association. Our main mission? Clean up the Charles River Esplanade! Our crew got down and dirty, working tirelessly to eliminate the invasive plant species plaguing Otis Grove — a section of the Esplanade near Copley Square.

At this hands-on experience, all employees loaded up with shears and got to work trimming away overgrown flora and fauna along the Charles River. With a little guidance, we were able to remove the majority of the invasive plants surrounding the Storrow Lagoon.

“We have a great team and spending time together outside of the day-to-day of Rocketbook is always fun,” says Chris Kelly, Rocketbook’s finance manager. “But any time we can give back to the City of Boston as a team makes the experience even better. It was a great feeling looking up (and taking a break from making space puns) and seeing how much work we had gotten done.”

“The Esplanade cleanup was such a great team outing.” says Michael Graney, Rocketbook’s head of Customer Happiness. “To help prep the city of Boston for the 4th of July fireworks celebration, one of the most popular nights each year in our community, felt wonderful and was equally rewarding and fun.”

Rocketbook wanted an opportunity to give back to the city it calls home, and by spending the day working on the Esplanade, we were able to do just that!

Do you want a chance to get involved with the Boston community? The Esplanade Association has opportunities for groups and individuals throughout the year to assist with a variety of projects, including managing invasive species, painting benches, helping with guided tours, and so much more!
