Preparing for a dinner party can be a stressful time and to prevent your guests from dying of hunger while they are waiting for the main course, hors d’oeuvres are essential. A quick, easy, and healthy hors d’oeuvre is a hummus dip served with pita bread.

Chickpeas, one of the main ingredients, are a rich source of vitamins, minerals, and fiber.

Hummus dip and pita could also be a light healthy breakfast or an afternoon snack.

Hummus Dip

Ingredients:

1 can of preserved and cooked chickpeas

3 tbsp olive oil

3 tbsp tahini sauce

1 tsp finely minced garlic

One half tsp ground cumin

Fresh lemon juice from 2 squeezed lemons

Salt to taste

Directions:

Mix all of the ingredients in a blender. If the mixture is too thick add some olive oil and water. Serve with pita bread.
