For me, the holidays are a time to binge — on media.
It’s a Christmas tradition for me to hunker down and disappear from civilization for several days, while I conquer some epic cultural mountain. Last year, I watched all five season the The Wire (which was just released on HD). A few years ago, the new SimCity occupied every waking (and dreaming) hour. Another year, I listened to every single Stevie Wonder album, twice. The only binge I regret? “Franzen Feast.”
This year the binge was more diffuse. But it included one Broadway play, 10 feature movies, and an entire 10-episode Netflix series.
