…and an apology

For quite a while, I’ve been criticising Dylan Combellick for his criticisms towards President Biden. And while I still stand by some of those, there’s a part of what he was talking about that after the recent passage of the Ukraine/Israel/Taiwan aid bill, has turned out to be correct.

And that has to do with Biden’s attitude. His criticisms over Ukrainian targeting of Russia’s infrastructure and oil production capabilities using long range missiles provided by either NATO or the US. His remarks that, “well, that’s enough for now…”, with the idea that we don’t need to produce anymore aid “this year”.

Dylan is absolutely correct.

While Biden has been walking that fine political line, now isn’t the time to hold back. Biden won, he won handily, and he forced the GOP to walk back their former positions on the Ukraine war and struggle against Russia. He managed to manipulate the aid bill nicely. NOW is the time to go full steam ahead, force the public to see his victory as the reason for why the GOP had to walk that all back. That’s to his advantage now for the election.

As I’ve argued for quite a while here, and Dylan and a few others have clearly shown us, Russia is NOT the number two world power they want you to think they are. At best, they’re a third world power with nukes — assuming that their oligarchic corruption hasn’t eliminated the ability of any of them to actually, you know, work right. A bad bet either way, but well, corruption is its own punishment.

The US can, and should, drop the caution and go full steam ahead. We all know Russia will never stop as long as their current governing institutions and the inherent corruption continues to maintain control. As long as they do, Europe is in danger from future conflict, and the need for a significant expenditure of cash into the world’s militaries will keep on dragging down our abilities to feed, clothe, and house all of mankind into the future.

Plus, if we don’t take a firm hand in stopping Russian empirical ambitions, China can’t help but take notice, and they’ll get worse too. They aren’t exactly the same, but their culture is as firmly bound to its monarchical past as Russia’s is, and that means trouble if we can’t teach them that the world won’t take it. Which means, of course, that the world has to get off its ass and actually DO THAT.

And as in the past, the US must take the lead. If we fail, civilization cannot progress, and mankind is headed for bad times indeed.

So, President Biden, get off your high horse and actually take the future into your hands, force us to provide enough support to Ukraine so they can actually beat Russia’s ass and teach China we won’t take their crap either.

(Oh, and Barack Obama, please, please, help us convince Biden to do this!)

So, Dylan, please accept my apologies for missing the attitude thing, and let’s move forward in pressing the Biden Administration to get it right.

Progress of our civilization depends on it. Thanks for reading!
