DEMISE OF DEMOCRACY
No Kings in America
No is a complete sentence
I just returned from a #NoKings protest. It was a peaceful protest in one area of Baltimore County in Maryland. There were over 2,000 nationally scheduled No Kings protests today. I made some new friends and saw some old friends. I enjoyed being in solidarity — protesting the current regime. Because I’ve had enough.
As the dictator-in-chief spent 45 million dollars on a vanity parade to flex his muscle and dally with starting a civil war, normal citizens like myself chose to stand up and say #Nokings in America.
Months ago I thought to myself there is no way I would attend a rally protest because I would surely end up in jail and lose my job, probably my house. Frankly, I can’t afford an attorney. Now I see things differently. I told my husband I am ready to take a bullet for democracy, because it is worth fighting for. It’s worth dying for.
I spent Friday night working on my sign. I prepared my last will and testament and put it in my car. I packed a couple snacks and water and had an emergency stash of cash. A friend told me to have $1,000 per person in case I needed bail money. No, I wasn’t carrying around $1,000 with me but I did have enough to bribe a police officer in case I got hauled off in handcuffs.
